Gary Pietropaolo has been in the dog training business since 1985. He has been certified by the Bureau for Municipal Police in Albany, The United States Police Canine Association and the American Pet Dog Training Association. He has trained numerous dogs in police patrol, narcotics and explosives all over the country. His extensive knowledge of dog training was obtained by attending many training courses from the New York City Police Department all the way to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Gary retired from a large city police department in New York State on 9/11/05 where he was the Senior K-9 handler and the unit’s trainer. During his career he attended several United States Police Canine Association K-9 certifications, always placing at the top in 1987; 1989; and 1990 taking first place (top dog) in the region. He also trained many other K-9 teams from various police departments throughout the region that have taken first place titles in obedience and other areas of police work. Gary has become an expert in training all types of breeds of dogs. He focuses on the technique of training the owner/handler. Gary quotes, “training a dog for a family is just like training a police dog team; the people handling the dog need to know what to do.”
Gary has always said it doesn’t matter if you have a poodle as a pet or a police dog, if you don’t know how to get the dog to respond it will not work. Working with the family is top priority for a successfully trained dog Sending your dog away only trains your dog. We will train you and your dog as a team. This approach has been successful because the owner learns how to handle his/her pet dog.
